Who is LIFE Unlimited

'Living Independence For Everyone'

Integrity, excellence and accountability in all we do

The original trust (Disabled Living Centre (Waikato) Trust Inc) was formed in 1979 and changed its operating name to LIFE Unlimited to reflect the services provided by the centre; LIFE meaning "Living Independence for Everyone".

LIFE Unlimited is a charitable non profit organisation governed by a board of trustees and financed through contracts we have with government departments, by charitable trusts, public donations and LIFE Unlimited's own efforts.

The name, Te Ao Marama - "the glow of the moon" was chosen by LIFE Unlimited's kaumatua to reflect our commitment of collaborating with disabled people, whanau, hapu and iwi to create enlightenment within our communities.

Our responsibility is to disabled people, to carers, to family/whanau, and to all others who access our services and products. In responding to their needs, everything we do must be of high quality and of professional standard.

We strive to meet the cultural needs of people with disabilities, applying the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. Everyone is considered as an individual. We are responsible to the communities in which we live and work.

LIFE Unlimited has worked in the greater Waikato community for 27 years. Today we provide Needs Assessment and Service Co-ordination (NASC) services in the Tairawhiti and Hutt Valley areas. LIFE Unlimited provide National Hearing Therapy Services, throughout New Zealand and facilitates the Diploma of Hearing Therapy. LIFE Unlimited also provide consultancy services and have facilitated many national projects on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

LIFE Unlimited provide many innovative services that are funded through reserves and fundraising initiatives. The Waikato accessible show home, “Best Buddies”, and the Multi Sensory Environment are good examples of this.

The LIFE Unlimited Trust Board govern with the organisation’s mission and vision in mind. LIFE Unlimited Trust Board have recently invested in research and to this effect we have two new projects underway; Multimedia Profiling for Needs Assessment and the Hope project, which adds value to Hearing Therapy Services.
